Steel Shed Erection
During what should have been a routine shed building job, HMT dealer CJ Tennant discovered 150 misaligned holes in the framework of the structure.
This meant that it was impossible to secure adjoining beams and the build had to be put on hold whilst a solution was implemented.
Initial assessment concluded that rectifying the issue would require 2 full days of remedial work either grinding out the holes or using a special holesaw to recut them.
However, upon discussion with the HMT site team, a faster, more efficient solution was found.
The HMT Site team advised the use of a VersaDrive® Impact Reamer.
This could be operated with hand-held, battery-powered Impact tooling and get the job done in hours rather than days.
The team already had a VersaDrive® Installation kit on site and therefore had everything they needed immediately to hand and didn't need to spend more time or money sourcing items.
In total just 1 VersaDrive Reamer was used to ream all 150 holes, each through 2 x 10mm steel beams.
Results
VersaDrive® Impact Reamers rectified fabrication errors in just 25% of the time the job would otherwise have taken, completing the project in 4hrs instead of the anticipated 2 days
